All the Documents Required for a Pan Card

PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. It is basically a 10-digit unique identification alpha-numeric number assigned to Indian people, especially those paying income tax online. The PAN system is a computerized system, so it assigns a unique identification number to every tax-paying Indian; PAN has all the tax-related information of a particular person. So PAN is said to be an identification mode for tax-paying individual. To obtain a PAN card, you need to apply for it. Various PAN card documents are required while applying for it. 

 

When you apply for a new PAN card, you need to submit certain specified documents. However, the requirement of the documents may vary depending on the applicants and also on the reason for the application. Here it is explained about the documents required for PAN. 

Documents required for PAN

PAN card documents for HUF and Individuals (citizens):

The three major types of documents that are mandatory while applying for PAN by an Individual Indian citizen or the Hindu United Family (HUF) are identity proof, address proof, and proof of date of birth. For each of these types of documents, a list of documents has been advised by the Income tax department. They are as follows:

Documents considered for Identity proof:

A copy of any of the documents listed here is needed to apply for a PAN card online.

  • Passport 
  • Driving license
  • Ration card
  • Voter card
  • Adhar card
  • Arm’s license
  • Health scheme card of the central government.
  • For pensioners, their card copy has their photo.
  • Id card with photo issued by the central government, state government, or any undertaking of the public sector
  • Even a certificate issued by the bank; but should be duly attest, containing the applicant’s photo and the Domicile certificate.

Original copy of the document list below:

  • An identity certificate is need in the format as prescribe and have the signature of a Member of the Legislative Assembly, a Member of Parliament, a Municipal councilor, or a Gazetted officer.
  • A bank statement is need on the letterhead of the bank branch containe the name and stamp of the officer issue and also the duly attested photo and bank account number of the applicant.

Points to be consider:

  • If apply for a minor, then the parent’s or guardian’s identity proof is consider to be the proof of identity and address proof.
  • While applying for HUF, an affidavit is need by the head of the HUF mention the name, father’s name, and all coparceners’ addresses on the application date will be required.

  • Passport of spouse
  • Credit card statements
  • Bank account statements
  • Your post office account’s passbook mentions your address.
  • Domicile certificate issued by the government
  • Last order for the property tax assessment
  • Driving license
  • Documents of property registration
  • Allotment letter of accommodation allotted by the central government or state government, and it should not be more than three years old.

Point to be consider:

  • Any utility bills or bank/ credit card statements should not be more than three years old.

Documents considered to be proof of date of birth:

  • Birth certificate of the applicant allotted by the authority having the certification for issuing the birth certificate and death certificate, such as the municipality. 
  • Indian consulate’s allotted birth certificate
  • Certificate of matriculation from a recognized board
  • Driving license
  • Passport
  • Adhar card
  • Pension payment order
  • Domicile certificate issued by the central government or the state government
  • An affidavit that states about the DOB and is sign in the presence of a magistrate
  • Photo id provided by the central government or state government or central public sector undertaking or state public sector undertaking.

PAN card documents for companies integrated into India:

There are different types of companies. They are as follows:

  • Company 
  • Partnership firm
  • Limited liability partnership
  • People association
  • Trusts
  • Local authority
  • Individual body
  • Artificial juridical person

Different types of companies require different documents. The PAN card documents required by them are mentioned below:

  • Company – Xerox of registration certificate provided by the registrar of companies
  • Partnership firm – xerox of registration certificate provided by registrar of firms or xerox of Partnership deed
  • Limited liability partnership – xerox of registration certificate provided by registrar of LLP
  • Trust – xerox of registration certificate provided by charity commissioner or xerox of trust deed
  • For the rest of the companies – xerox of the registration number certificate provided by the cooperative society registrar, charity commissioner, or any such authority, or any document issued by the central or state government proving their identity and address.  

Conclusion:

The validity of a PAN card is for a lifetime, as it is not affect by any changes in the address. The above-mentioned documents required for PAN will help you to apply for PAN easily.
